In this position, you will serve as an Actuary in the Resilience, Federal Insurance, Actuarial & Catastrophic Modeling Branch. Typical assignments include: Performing analytical studies of an exceedingly complex and mathematical nature and incorporating actuarial projections and economic analyses into alternative program designs, rates structures, reinsurance mechanisms and alternative approaches. Leading and undertaking actuarial analysis, rate making, mathematical and statistical analysis. Providing technical direction and coordination of work efforts and reviewing work products for staff developing systems for modeling analytical or reporting purpose. Serving as a senior representative for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) with contractor staff, insurance companies and their industry advisory groups, and others in the interpretation of policy matters concerning actuarial aspects of the NFIP. Preparing and presenting briefings and interpreting and defending studies and results. What else do I need to know? Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions."]
